St Stephens College, Delhi University, New Delhi Overview
St. Stephen’s College is a University of Delhi affiliated college. The Cambridge Mission to Delhi was founded in 1881. Under the auspices of the University of Delhi, the institution admits both undergraduates and postgraduates and confers degrees in liberal arts and sciences. The college’s governing council unilaterally began the process of making it an independent institution in 2017.
The idea was put on hold in 2018 when the University Grants Commission obtained legal information that a favourable ruling would be made. The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranked the university seventh among Indian institutions in 2021, and it has produced notable graduates in disciplines like politics, law, journalism, cinema, and commerce. The facility, which is part of the University of Delhi’s North Campus, was planned by renowned Welsh architect Walter Sykes George. The building was finished in 1941.
