South Asian University, (Sau) New Delhi Overview
The South Asian Institution (SAU) is an international university founded by the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation’s eight member countries (SAARC). SAU began operations in the 2010 academic year. The institution presently provides post-graduate and doctorate programmes in economics, computer programming, biotech, math, social science, foreign diplomacy, and law, among other areas. It will eventually comprise 11 postgraduate faculties and one undergraduate education faculty. SAU welcomes students from all of the SAARC countries, and its degrees are recognised by all of them.
The University is now operating out of the Akbar Bhawan Campus in Chanakyapuri, New Delhi, before moving to its 100-acre campus in Maidan Garhi, South Delhi, where the building is under construction. At the 13th SAARC Summit in Dhaka in 2005, India’s Prime Minister proposed the establishment of a South Asian University (SAU).
