This school, which is now ranked third in India by India Today & Times of India, is sprawled across a 122-acre campus. With 2800 beds, 7200 daily outpatient visits, and 47 operating theatres, it is one of the top sites for learning. Each year, it educates 290 bachelors, 245 postgraduate and post-doctoral students, with 426 academic staff and 810 resident physicians. In 1958, the institution was founded with the former Irwin Hospital (now the Lok Nayak Hospital) affiliated to it. The institution is named after Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad, a famous patriot and educator, and stands today as a model of medical excellence.
