Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) was established in the year 1982 and is the largest medical institution in the Indian Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir. It is recognised by the UGC and holds the status of being a 'Deemed to be University'. Admission to its courses is based on the rank secured by the candidate in the entrance exams. SKIMS considers NEET UG, NEET PG, NEET SS, and JKBOPEE Exams for admission to various UG, PG, diploma, and doctorate courses.
SKIMS is approved by the Medical Council of India and offers a wide range of UG, PG, Doctoral, Post-Doctoral, and Diploma courses in the domains of Nursing and Medical Sciences. The institute also operates a hospital known as SKIMS Hospital which aims to provide quality services to the people.
