ISID took a different path than most of the other ICSSR institutions when it was founded. After overcoming many hardships and uncertainties over a period of more than two and a half decades, the journey began in the late 1970s with a small group of dedicated and competent scholars and has now progressed to the point where it can support a long-term research programme on various aspects of the country’s industrial development.
The Academic Block, Office Block, and Meeting Block, with a total residential area of about two lakh sq ft, each includes a library, faculty offices, convention and lecture halls, guest house, pantry, dining hall, canteen, and elevators, as well as a concert hall and an incandescent sub-station. The campus has an approximately 250-meter frontage, with beautiful green grass and plants and trees around the inner perimeter.
