Indian Institute of Technology, (IIT) Delhi Overview
IIT Delhi (Indian Institute of Technology Delhi) is a federal technical and research college in Hauz Khas, South Delhi, India. It is one of the country’s oldest technology institutes. The current site, which was founded in 1961, spans 320 acres. The Institute of National Importance was later designated as an Institute of National Importance under the Institutes of Technology Amendment Act of 1963 and was given the status of a full university with the authority to set its own educational strategy, undertake its own tests, and award its own qualifications.
The Government of India bestowed the designation of Institution of Eminence (IoE) on IIT Delhi in 2018, granting it near-complete autonomy. According to a government statement released previously, these IoEs would have more autonomy in that they will be able to admit up to 30% of international students and attract foreign professors up to 25% of the faculty strength with increased
